Tidal Staff Spotlight: Meet Drew
Drew is a beertender and assistant brewer in training here at Tidal Brewing. He is Dave’s right-hand man when it comes to brewing and helps bring our customers the delicious beers they love. His job as a beertender puts him behind the bar and interacting with the customers which he enjoys. He originally got into craft beers because of the community and friendships he has formed from it. While he appreciates all the beers on tap, his current favorites are the Grown n’ Sexy or Turbid Waters. When he isn’t at work you can find this guy outside playing with his son. Drew has been with us from day one and has a true passion for brewing and craft beers. He contributes so much to the experience here at Tidal Brewing and that is why he is on our team.
Now that you know more about him, let’s see what he has to say!
What’s the best thing about being a beertender and assistant brewer in training?
I love meeting the people as a beertender and finding that perfect beer for them. I love learning the science behind making the beer and the process it goes through. Hopefully one day I will be making that perfect beer that I will find for a new customer on their first visit to Tidal!
What music do you like to play while serving?
I’m really into the old school Hip Hop but I appreciate all types of music so I’ll put on whatever I think would go over best with the crowd in the brewery.
If you wrote an autobiography what would the title be?
What was the last show you binge-watched?
I keep myself so busy that I never have enough time to “binge-watch” anything but I have been into a few different shows lately when I get free time. Dead to Me, True Blood, and Legacies have been the shows I watch lately. Or I'll turn on whatever little man wants to watch.
If you could have any exotic animal as a pet, what would it be?
I would love to have a penguin as a pet. I think they’re fun little animals.
What job would you be terrible at?
Anything where I have to sit at a desk all day. I don’t like being in the same spot like that.
What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
The birth of my son. He opened my eyes to an entirely different way of looking at everything. He’s awesome!
What could you give a 40-minutes presentation on with absolutely no preparation?
I could talk all day about beer for sure. Beer consumes most of my life so I’m 100% sure I can make up some presentation about it.
What is something you think everybody should do at least once in their lives?
Just live. People don’t do things because they’re scared of the outcome or what MIGHT happen. Sometimes you just need to jump in and go for it.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a gold medal for?
Drinking beer for sure. I don’t know why they haven’t made it an Olympic sport already!?
